Scaffold Boards: Versatile for All Scaffolding Systems

Our scaffold boards are made from machine-tested Nordic spruce wood. This slow-grown wood is highly resistant to decay and breakage. Each board is manufactured from at least three water- and weather-resistant glued wooden layers.

Ensuring Wood Quality | Load-Bearing Capacity:

  • Manufacture of scaffold components from Nordic spruce
  • Load-bearing capacity testing through machine-based modulus of elasticity (E-modulus) vibration measurement according to DIN/EN 14081 and DIN 4074
  • Ensuring the safe compliance with the required load values for the scaffold planks
  • Planed timber sorting via scanner – allowing wood defects to be detected and excluded
  • External inspection by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

Advantages of Nordic Spruce:

  • Fewer wood defects
  • Better wood quality
  • Fine growth rings
  • High load-bearing capacity (the E-modulus is significantly higher than that of Central European spruce)

Quality: Trust is Good, Control is Better

Our wooden floors and Toe Boards are often used at great heights. There is no room for errors. Therefore, defined quality standards and regular inspections are crucial. In addition to our in-house production control, we work closely with the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) of the University of Stuttgart and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Ensuring Processing Quality | Lamination

  • Lamination of scaffold planks in accordance with DIN 1052
  • Ensuring lamination quality through thermal cycling tests and piercing tests in internal quality control
  • Verification by the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) at the University of Stuttgart

Advantages of Wood over Steel

In addition to the ecological benefits, wood also offers numerous advantages in everyday use on construction sites, thanks to its material properties and the special processing techniques at Schollmayer.

  • Excellent cleaning properties when dealing with plaster and concrete residues
  • Easy to stack, making it easier to transport
  • Wooden planks have 30% less transport volume than steel planks, optimizing transport (trucks and lifts)
  • Greater working comfort (more pleasant to carry and work on)
  • Lower thermal conductivity, stays cooler in summer
  • Wood is climate-neutral: 1 cubic meter of wood stores 1 ton of CO₂, whereas producing 1 ton of steel emits 2 tons of CO₂
  • Torsion-resistant – doesn't break as easily when planks fall on their ends
  • Extremely durable (assuming no moisture accumulation)
  • Customizable (color and printing options)
