Safe and Comfortable Work at Height
Our core material is wood. Beyond its ecological benefits, wooden scaffold planks are highly valued in the construction industry for their smooth and warm surface, making kneeling or sitting work more comfortable. Compared to steel, wooden scaffold boards are torsion-resistant and significantly lighter, which facilitates transport and handling.
High-Quality Manufacturing
Our wooden scaffold planks consist of at least three water- and weather-resistant laminated wooden frames. We manufacture them from machine-sorted, high-quality Nordic spruce, which features fine growth rings, making it highly resistant to decay and breakage. Its modulus of elasticity is significantly higher than that of Central European spruce. With proper care, our scaffold planks can last for decades.
Before lamination, the planed wooden frames undergo machine testing using vibration measurement in accordance with DIN/EN 14081 and DIN 4074 to ensure their load-bearing capacity. This guarantees compliance with the required load values for scaffold boards.
For lamination, we use a reactive one-component polyurethane adhesive (1K PU glue), which is machine-applied. The planks are then continuously pressed according to DIN 1052 specifications. Our production process is regularly inspected by the MPA – Materials Testing Institute of the University of Stuttgart.
The advantages of a glued plank are that it is largely free of warping and twisting and has a high degree of dimensional stability. If one of the planks' frame members is damaged, there are still at least two supporting frame members.
Custom Variations
We are happy to accommodate special requests and tailor scaffold boards to your specifications. We can stain or fully coat them in any RAL color using a water-based pure acrylic wood coating.
This optimized coating enhances durability in outdoor conditions. Additionally, we offer an optional water-repellent additive to create a "lotus effect," improving resistance to moisture and dirt.
Production Control & Quality Assurance
Production control is carried out by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Our bonding values and glue approval are checked by the Materials Testing Institute of the University of Stuttgart (MPA).
Additional Information & Maintenance Tips
Wooden scaffold planks have an exceptionally long lifespan when properly maintained. After use, especially during peak construction seasons, it is essential to stack them correctly to ensure proper drying (using stacking strips). Even though they are highly durable, always inspect boards before use to ensure they are in optimal condition. With proper care, Schollmayer scaffold boards can last for decades. When using them, always check the permissible load capacity, as it varies depending on plank length.
Sustainable Production
We exclusively use FSC-certified wood from sustainable forestry. By choosing wood as a renewable resource, we contribute to environmental protection. In comparison to steel or aluminum scaffold boards, the energy consumption in the production of wooden planks is only a fraction. Additionally, one cubic meter of wood stores approximately one ton of CO₂, making it an environmentally responsible choice.
